All of my courses have made me a more well-rounded individual. In many of my business courses, we learn about the various different concepts of business from management, human resources, business strategies, ethics, etc. to the actual behind the scenes work and tools that go along with it. I believe this information will allow me to excel in the workplace. I am also taking several extra SAP courses to get my certificate which will further my abilities. As far as my general education courses, many of them have been extremely useful in teaching me public speaking skills, communication skills (verbally and written), and time management skills. The class material for general education may not directly relate to the my future job, but it has furthered my knowledge and has given me more practice in the skills stated which I can relate to my future job and life.

If I had to give advice for upcoming freshman it would be to try to schedule a few courses that directly relate to your major rather than all general education courses. This will give you an early look at what it means to be in your major and if you will actual enjoy what you are doing. I would also say don’t get caught up in the whole “college life”. Take your courses seriously the entire time you’re at college because the classes you take earlier will be some of the easiest you have. It’s important to get good grades early because down the road they will act as a buffer increasing your GPA significantly.
