Management 301: During this course I was placed into a group setting consisting of four people total (including me) where we completed a real life simulation called “HR Management Simulation”. We acted as if we were the human resource department for a company analyzing several different aspects including staffing, inventory, budget analysis, health benefits, and several other resources that gave us information. There were several different calculators as part of the simulation where we could type in potential numbers and try to figure out the most effective way to use our budget. Some of these calculators included a budget calculator, a staff wage calculator, inventory calculator, and a few others. After setting our numbers for the week, we would receive immediate feedback showing our scores and how well we were doing. We then would use the numbers and other sources within the simulation such as newsletters, reviews, and other forms of customer feedback to improve our results for the following weeks. Some weeks of the simulation there were special decisions to be made including insurance, employees fighting, a rude customer, etc.

Marketing 301: For this project, again I was paired with three other people to work with. The main goal of this project was to create a “startup” for a product that we were required to come up with. Our group decided on a hangover preventing beer that has less alcohol content and additional electrolytes and vitamins to prevent a hangover. We were then required to come up with different ways to implement our product mix. This includes the product itself, the price of our product, the promotion we intended to use, and the place in which we intended to sell our product. To dive in further, we were required to write several papers on the marketing mix and about several other factors that come into play such as environmental, sociocultural, and the outlook of the industry where we intended to launch our product. At the end of the semester, we were required to give an eight minute presentation explaining the work we had done and compile a report of all the separate papers we had written. Here are some examples of group papers and an individual assignment that I was required to complete for this project.

CAS 100H – Public Speech: For this course, my two group members and I were required to pair up with a non-profit organization in Erie, Pennsylvania. We chose to pair up with the PA Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home. We traveled there and spoke with one of the members of the human resource department. We conducted an interview with him asking him several open ended questions to display during our final speech. We also took several photos of the home for our presentation and learned a lot about what they do. With the video included, we gave a speech approximately ten minutes in length informing and persuading our classmates to visit and become involved with the home. It was an extremely eye-opening experience.
